Current Special Newsguy

Newsguy has been around for a number of years before the boom of Usenet really was hitting the net. One thing that sets Newsguy apart from its competitors is a total of 32 simultaneous SSL connections. The service is unquestionable, as they keep the reputation of their company pretty solid, which also speaks volume for its support. The price plans, ranging from a short 3 day $3.95 plan to the unlimited $19.95 plan, there something for pretty much any budget. They have a good amount of features, but sorry, EU, this is a US only US members only.

Features
140 day retention may be a bit smaller than the normal, but they attempt to make up for this by offering 32 simultaneous SSL connections, free email account with 250MB storage, and the ability to carry over any unused bandwidth on capped plans over to the next month. Member incentives for referrals and constant promotions. NNTP as well Web access as well.

Support
For a company that has been around for as long as NewsGuy has, and as picky as us reviewers can be,its impressive on how Newsguy continues to create and maintain happy customers. Phone support is a big plus to the addition of email support if needed. As a member, you can even email them with the free email account you get at signup.

Conclusion
Newsguy is a long standing member of the Usenet community, although it may not be as heavily noted as some others. They offer a slew of features designed to keep the avid Usenet member happy. Retention is what holds this service back from being possibly the best Usenet provider around, as every other feature available is best described as excellent.

Usenet Provider Tips

Capacity Refills

With your Usenet account, you may find that you have depleted the cap of downloads per month. Some newsgroups providers offer roll over bandwidth allowing users to utilize unused bandwidth month to month.

Provider Features Defined

Web Access NNTP

A few Usenet Providers offer Web Access to newsgroups. Using this method of access can significantly cut your header download count if your Usenet provider counts it.

Newsgroup Newsreader Tips

Newsreader Newsgroup Search

Some newsreaders offer the ability and feature of being able to search through most popular newsgroups all at once using keywords specified. Depending on the newsreader, some charge for this feature.

Usenet Utilities Tips

Commercial Software

Many commercial products, especially newsreaders, offer trial periods to use the software - normally fully featured - before requiring purchase to use them. Best featured newsreaders are usually shareware.
